SUMMARY:Chicago Polish Constitution Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:Originating in 1892\, the Polish Constitution Day Parade has been organized by Chicagoland Polish organizations to celebrate the ratification of the Polish Constitution. A celebration of all that it means to be Polish\, event goers enjoy Polish music\, food and dance\, and learn about local organizations. Marshals and a Queen of the parade are selected months in advance\, and the event has attracted the attendance of both local and national politicians\, such as Robert F. Kennedy.  \nIn the days and weeks leading up to the parade\, a full calendar of events engage the community. These range from a youth art contest to a property decorating contest. On the day of the event\, participants lay a wreath at the Kosciuszko monument and attend a pre-parade brunch. In the afternoon\, thousands convene downtown to watch the parade\, which has boasted up to 144 marching groups.
