Warsaw Security Forum, a two-day meeting featuring top politicians and defense industry representatives from the EU and the US, started on Tuesday.
Polish Defence Minister and deputy Prime Minister Mariusz Blaszczak opened the conference with reference to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and said that “the 24th of February (when Russia started its war against Ukraine – PAP) has become a reminder for us all that the nightmares of a full-scale war in Europe are not a thing of the past.”
According to Blaszczak, “this begs numerous questions about how to bolster our common security.”
The forum also features the Polish and Lithuanian prime ministers, the Latvian president, the German, Czech, and Croatian foreign ministers, the British defense minister, and the EU home affairs commissioner.
A number of former Nato and security officials as well as defense industry representatives will also attend the conference.
The forum, which has been held every year since 2014, will focus on energy security, climate, defense, and the resilience of democratic systems, as well as the ongoing war in Ukraine.
