One of the biggest US investments in the history of the Polish-American special friendship
“This investment today is one of the biggest US investments in the history of the Polish-American special friendship. It has a value of over 4 billion dollars,” said US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski, commenting on just announced Intel’s investment in Poland’s semiconductors industries. He added that more American businesses were looking towards Poland.
On Friday (June 16), Intel Corporation announced plans to invest up to 4.6 billion dollars in a new semiconductor assembly and test facility near Wrocław, Poland, as part of a multi-billion-dollar investment drive across Europe to build chip capacity.
At a special event on Friday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called Intel’s factory “the largest greenfield investment in the history of Poland”.
US ambassador: one of the biggest US investments
“This investment today is one of the biggest US investments in the history of the Polish-American special friendship. It has a value of over 4 billion dollars. Second, it’s in the semiconductor industry. This is one of the most sophisticated, technologically advanced areas of industry, and there was tremendous competition to land this investment. And Poland was the most hungry, it was the most prepared, Poland has a heritage in technology – this is the land of Nicolaus Copernicus and Marie Curie-Skłodowska – and they ( Intel – edit.) chose Poland,” the US ambassador said.
“It’s about the friendship and our shared future. Because what Intel will do in Poland, in this facility alone, is increase its current level of jobs in Poland from 2,000 jobs to 4,000 jobs,” he added.
“But what Intel will do – basically, it’s technology transfer to build chips in Poland – is make an investment in the Polish people. And what you heard from the Intel chiefs today is an investment in the surrounding community, in Wrocław, in the surrounding communities, nothing could be a better investment, I feel, than the investment in the Polish people,” Brzezinski stressed.
American businesses look at Poland
According to the ambassador, soon, there might be more US investments in Poland. “Poland is hot right now,” he said.
“It really is. I’m hearing from so many American companies excited about Poland and investing in the Polish people. And what do they see? They see a reactive mobilization, especially by Polish young people, in the face of danger in Ukraine and doing things larger than themselves. They see a technologically sophisticated and advanced economy. Poland is a very attractive place to invest,” Mark Brzezinski added.
