“The importance of Poland is appreciated by both major political groups in the United States,” the US ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski, told RMF FM. He added that regardless of the outcome of the November elections, cooperation with Poland will continue.
The American diplomat, responding to questions from our American correspondent Paweł Żuchowski, emphasized that relations between Poland and the US are as strong as ever . He pointed out that cooperation has developed significantly in recent years.
Under President Joe Biden, Polish-American relations have not only remained strong, but have also deepened significantly. His historic visits to Poland, first in early 2022 and then again in early 2023, were a powerful expression of solidarity, underscoring the importance of our bilateral relationship, Ambassador Brzeziński emphasized.
Defense cooperation between the United States and Poland goes far beyond symbolic gestures. It is based on comprehensive long-term planning, joint training, technology exchange and a mutual understanding of the security challenges we face, he noted.
Ambassador Brzeziński also said that the common commitment to Ukraine had united both nations.
What is happening in Poland has become a model for the world. Together we have provided Ukraine with significant economic and humanitarian aid, as well as the weapons that Ukraine needs to defend itself, he said.
Ambassador Mark Brzeziński, responding to the question of whether he thought Europe and Poland could count on continued good relations with the United States, said that Poland and the US have a long history of cooperation based on shared democratic values and convergent interests.
Our excellent bilateral relations go beyond politics on both sides of the Atlantic. Regardless of who is in power in the United States or Poland, our partnership will continue to grow. Poland plays a key role in Europe. And its importance is appreciated by both major political groups in the United States. Our long-standing cooperation in areas such as defense, security, clean energy and regional stability will continue regardless of the results of the November elections, he said.
The American ambassador emphasizes that the West must remain united and cannot allow itself to be divided.
Poland is an irreplaceable ally, partner and friend of the United States. Our cooperation is developing in many areas, which shows the depth and strength of our relations – he noted.
The American diplomat added that he is proud of the joint achievements. I can say with certainty that we have never been more united than we are now, he added.
He also said that security is a key element of our partnership and the security alliance is durable.
A safe Poland also means a safe United States. The rotation of thousands of American soldiers, as well as our permanent military presence in Poland, are proof of our unwavering commitment . Polish and American forces stand shoulder to shoulder, together taking care of our common security. Poland has also become a key leader in supporting Ukraine. At the same time, it is dynamically modernizing its defense capabilities. But it is not just about defense. We are also focused on supporting Poland in the transition to clean, safe and affordable nuclear energy. Energy security is national security. The United States is proud to be Poland’s closest partner and most trusted friend in the energy transformation – assessed Brzezinski.
Ambassador Mark Brzezinski believes that the United States and Poland have an opportunity to further strengthen Polish-American relations based on the already existing solid foundations.
The election campaign is underway in the United States. On November 5, Americans will elect the 47th president. Russia is trying to interfere in the presidential election in the US, influence the opinion of the US in the world and divide Western societies. The fight against disinformation remains a key issue. Ambassador Brzezinski, when asked what he would pay special attention to in Poland, emphasized that Putin is afraid of democracy.
Democracy threatens his corrupt authoritarian rule, which is why he is doing everything in his power to undermine democracy in other countries. Last October, Poles showed the world how best to respond to Putin’s actions by participating in the democratic process, expressing their views at the ballot box. The record turnout in the Polish parliamentary elections was an incredible testament to the trust in the democratic process , he said.
Poland is a key partner in the fight against Russian disinformation. Together we coordinate actions to expose and counter Kremlin disinformation. At the same time, we provide reliable information on Russia’s ongoing aggression. However, exposing and responding to Kremlin disinformation is only one side of the coin. As NATO allies and members of the global community of democracies, we must make our societies more resilient to disinformation threats – emphasized the United States Ambassador.
