On Monday, President Andrzej Duda announced a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, during which the two agreed to meet before Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States in January.
Kolarski clarified in a Wednesday interview with RMF FM that the meeting will take place this year. “We are talking about the coming weeks, (…) it could be the end of November, December,” he added.
“The meeting is to take place this year because one of the topics will be the Polish presidency of the EU Council (starting on January 1, 2025 – PAP note), and the first priority of the Polish presidency of the EU is to strengthen transatlantic relations,” Kolarski emphasized.
He said that Susi Wiles, who is to assume the position of White House chief of staff in his new administration, is to be responsible for setting the date and place of the meeting on Trump’s side. On Andrzej Duda’s side, Marcin Mastalerek, the head of the president’s office, is to be responsible for organizing the meeting.
Kolarski noted that Trump will “certainly” be invited to Poland. “One of the reasons for such an invitation may be the European Union-United States summit planned as part of the Polish presidency. I would also like to remind you that Donald Trump was a guest at the Three Seas Summit in Poland in 2017 at the invitation of President Duda . Such a summit will take place in April next year, then it may be an opportunity for President Trump to visit Poland,” Kolarski indicated.

Donald Trump will take office as President of the United States on January 20, 2025.
