During the ongoing NATO summit in The Hague, President Andrzej Duda held a conversation with United States President Donald Trump, officials from the President’s Office reported. Earlier, the American leader expressed support for the Alliance and Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

“The NATO summit is an opportunity for meetings and talks between the leaders of the member states. In The Hague, President Duda spoke with the President of the United States,” wrote a post on the official account of the Chancellery of the President on the social media platform X. The post was accompanied by a photograph showing both presidents discussing in the conference room of the Hague World Forum, where the meeting is taking place.
The leaders of 32 NATO member states met on Wednesday for a summit in The Hague. Among the topics discussed was the proposed commitment by member states to spend 5 percent of their GDP on security . This would be divided into 3.5 percent on defense and 1.5 percent on infrastructure and civil defense.
President Andrzej Duda is part of the Polish delegation to the summit , which also includes Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski . Donald Trump represents the United States.
Earlier, President Trump expressed support for the Alliance and Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which provides for mutual assistance in the event of an attack on an ally. “We stand with them until the end,” Trump said, responding to a question about whether the United States would engage if an ally were attacked. He added that “NATO will be strong.”
