Presidential election set to take place on May 18, with 8 main candidates known so far

Marshall of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia has announced the date of the 2025 Polish presidential election. The eight candidates who have been nominated so far can start their official campaigns as early as January 15, and they have until April 4 to collect signatures in support of their candidacies.
So far, the following candidates have declared participation in the election: Sławomir Mentzen (Confederation), Marek Jakubiak (Free Republicans), Szymon Hołownia (Poland 2050 – Third Way), Rafał Trzaskowski (Civic Coalition), Karol Nawrocki (supported by Law and Justice), Magdalena Biejat (New Left), Piotr Szumlewicz (Union Alternative), Marek Woch (Non-Party Local Government Officials).
According to polls, the two candidates most likely to advance to the second round of the election, which will be held on June 1, are Rafał Trzaskowski (who is the current Mayor of Warsaw) and Karol Nawrocki (currently serving as President of the National Institute of Remembrance).
