TVN Foundation’s Summer Nights Ball raises over 5 million zlotys for Poland’s first Children’s and Youth Psychiatry and Oncology Center

On Saturday, one of the largest and most prestigious charity events in Poland, the Summer Night Ball, was put on by the TVN Foundation. We managed to collect nearly five million zlotys, and one million zlotys was donated by Amazon. The money will be allocated to the construction of the first Children’s and Youth Psychiatry and Oncology Center in Poland, which is being built at the Children’s Health Center.

The Midsummer Night Ball returned three years after the pandemic. The funds collected during this year’s ball will be donated by the TVN Foundation for the construction of the first Children’s and Youth Psychiatry and Oncology Center in the country at the Children’s Health Center. The construction cost is over PLN 70 million. The TVN Foundation is responsible for PLN 35 million raised for this investment.

Unique items were auctioned off, including Iga Świątek’s rocket from the last US Open finals, a double invitation to the Roland Garros tournament – Women’s Final 2023, a meeting with Robert Makłowicz, a photo session with Marcin Tyszka’s lens or an acting episode in the TVN Warner Bros series. Discovery. Amazon donated one million zlotys to the foundation.

About 500 people from the world of media, culture, art, medicine and business participated in the Summer Night Ball.

We are going back to a tradition that is extremely important. This is the eleventh ball, we come here, we gather with one goal: we collect money for the needs of the Foundation. This year we are collecting money for child psychiatry. The hospital that we are building together with the Children’s Memorial Health Institute – emphasized Kasia Kieli, President & Managing Director of Warner Bros. Discovery in Poland and CEO of TVN.

She emphasized that the Centrum hospital will be opened next year.

Our success is that we still have opportunities to help these people. Just this – the excluded, the lonely, the suffering. I am proud of it – said the president of the TVN Foundation Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska.

We almost every day inform about new, closed psychiatric wards. Building the Center as soon as possible is extremely important for patients in Poland – she emphasized.

The ball was attended, among others, by Mark Brzeziński, the US ambassador to Poland.

Medicine offers newer and newer solutions that can help children. All our children – American, Polish or Ukrainian deserve the best medical help – emphasized the diplomat.

Thanks to the previous 10 Bales, the TVN Foundation has already obtained approximately PLN 14.5 million.

The first such place in the country

The decision to build the Child and Youth Psychiatry Center was made by the TVN Foundation on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of TVN24. It will be the first treatment center of this type in Poland, and is being built in consultation and at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw. Its construction started in 2021 and is to be completed by the end of 2023.

The Children’s and Youth Psychiatry Center will house a daycare unit that will provide assistance to approximately 30 patients a day, and a stationary hospital unit with 32 beds (including six beds in the observation unit, four beds in the detoxification unit and 22 beds in the hospital ward). The Center will also have a psychiatric clinic with three doctor’s offices, two group therapy rooms, a family therapy room, a sexologist’s office and a treatment room.

The patients of the Center will have the opportunity to use the full diagnostics available at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute, including tomography, MRI or a wide range of laboratory tests.
